Privacy Policy

TL;DR

Calculator inputs and results never leave your browser. We don't know your salary, your debts, or your savings. We don't have a database of your numbers. We couldn't share them even if asked.

The detail

1. What we collect

CentCalc collects minimal information necessary to operate the Site and serve ads:

  • Anonymous analytics (optional, opt-out): aggregate page views, country, device type — used to improve the Site. No user-identifying data.
  • Feedback widget content: if you submit feedback via the feedback widget (bottom-right), your message and (optionally) your email address are sent to our feedback service.
  • Standard server logs: our hosting provider (Vercel) and ad network (Google AdSense) automatically log IP address, user agent, and request timestamps.

2. What we DO NOT collect

All calculator inputs — including salary, debts, savings balances, mortgage amounts, tax filing status, state of residence, etc. — are processed entirely in your browser via JavaScript. They are not transmitted to our servers and we have no way to access them.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a cookie consent banner on your first visit, powered byGoogle Funding Choices (Google's certified Consent Management Platform). You can review or change your choices at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer or the cookie icon at the bottom of any page.

Cookie categories

  • Essential (always active): required for the site to function. Cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4 cookies (_ga, _ga_*) collect anonymous data — page views, country, device type, referrer — to help us improve the site. IP addresses are anonymized. Only loaded if you consent. Google Analytics Privacy Policy
  • Advertising: Google AdSense cookies serve personalized ads. Only loaded if you consent. You can also opt out via Google Ads Settings. Google's ad privacy policy
  • Affiliate links (Amazon Associates): Some pages contain affiliate links to Amazon.com. When you click these links, Amazon may set a cookie (amazon-tag) to track referrals for 24 hours. If you make a purchase within that window, we earn a commission at no cost to you. Amazon's cookie is set by amazon.com domain and is governed by Amazon's Privacy Notice. These links use rel="nofollow sponsored noopener" for transparency.

How to change your cookie preferences

  • Click Cookie Settings (footer of any page) or the cookie icon (bottom of any page) to reopen the consent dialog.
  • For EU/EEA/UK users, consent is withdrawn if you clear the cookies set by Funding Choices.

For EU/EEA/UK users: our consent mechanism complies with the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR requirements for prior informed consent, and signals your choices to Google viaGoogle Consent Mode v2. Non-essential cookies are denied by default until you explicitly grant consent.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have certain rights regarding your personal data:

  • GDPR (EU/UK): right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object
  • CCPA/CPRA (California): right to know, delete, correct, and opt-out of sale or sharing of personal data.

Your privacy choices

  • Cookie preferences: click Cookie Settings (footer of any page) or the Funding Choices cookie icon to grant or withdraw consent for analytics and advertising cookies at any time.
  • Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information (California): we do not sell personal data. To opt out of any "sharing" (as defined by CCPA, e.g. ad personalization), enable your browser's Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — our site detects it and keeps non-essential cookies denied. You can also revoke consent via Cookie Settings.
  • Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information (California): we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by CPRA.

6. Data retention

  • Server logs: 30–90 days (Vercel default)
  • Feedback submissions: 24 months from submission
  • Calculator inputs: 0 days (never collected)

7. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (COPPA). If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us for deletion.

8. International data transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Site, you consent to these transfers in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top.
