About CentCalc

Free personal finance calculators built for people who count every cent.

Our mission

Personal finance shouldn't require a CPA, a Bloomberg terminal, or a paid app. CentCalc exists to put transparent, accurate, and genuinely useful financial calculators in front of everyone — for free, with no sign-up, no paywalls, and no data harvesting.

What we build

We focus on the calculations that actually move the needle on financial decisions:

  • Income & tax: paycheck calculators, income tax estimators for all US states
  • Debt: mortgage, refinance, loan, affordability calculators
  • Growth: compound interest, savings goals, investment projection, ROI
  • Retirement: 401(k), Roth IRA, FIRE, Social Security
  • Credit & insurance: DTI, payoff strategies, life insurance needs

Every calculator is an interactive tool, not a marketing funnel. We don't sell leads, we don't recommend specific products for commission, and we clearly label every estimate with its methodology and assumptions.

How we make money

CentCalc is supported by display advertising (Google AdSense and, at sufficient scale, premium ad networks like Mediavine or Raptive). Ads keep the tools free. We do not receive payment to recommend specific financial products — our pages cite peer-reviewed formulas and IRS / authoritative data sources, not advertiser preferences.

If we add affiliate links in the future (e.g., to high-yield savings accounts), they will be clearly disclosed inline and never affect calculator accuracy.

Who we are

CentCalc is operated by a small editorial team of software engineers and personal finance researchers. We are not certified financial planners, CPAs, or registered investment advisors — and we don't pretend to be. For tax, investment, or legal decisions that affect your financial life, please consult a qualified professional.

See our author bios for who writes and reviews our calculators, and our editorial policy for content standards.

Our principles

  1. Transparency: Every formula is published on the methodology page. Every assumption is stated.
  2. Privacy: Calculations run in your browser. Your salary, debts, and savings never leave your device.
  3. Honesty about limits: Our calculators are estimates. We don't pretend they replace a CPA.
  4. No dark patterns: No "free trial" that becomes paid. No email walls. No upsells.
  5. Open corrections: Spotted a bug or stale data? Use the feedback widget (bottom-right) or contact us.

How we update

Federal and state tax tables are reviewed annually after the IRS publishes updated inflation adjustments (typically October–November). Mid-year tax law changes are applied as authoritative guidance becomes available. Every calculator page shows its data effective date.
